i was just end dating some magazines in my current mag stack & found the premier issue of chocolat 'canada's shopping magazine for the home' (yes it was dated september 2006 but i find premier issues extra special for some reason)... i perused each page looking for any good & current canadian suppliers, designers, photographers etc. the main article featured photographer tracy shumate's loft in toronto (another great loft). when i was finished reading i had to wonder:
- why is it that photographers have such cool homes? (if i were a photographer would i have a cool home or do you have to be cool first to be a photographer?)
- why is it that we can't support more than one canadian design magazine? (or two if you count 'style at home')

First of all you are a photographer. Second of all you have a cool home. Third and most important, you are cool. You are one of the coolest people I know.
I think the reason they have cool homes is A) they are successful and therefore have the money to make it exactly the way they want and B) they only show you the cool homes in the magazines. I am sure there are many photographers with mundane homes.
don't make me *blush*
you might be right shutterpixie there certainly more photogs out there than there are loft articles :)
never heard of this- going to see if they have a website. Thanks for the great tip!

i forgot to just say it - but 'chocolat' is no longer in print(i only implied that by asking why canadians can't support another design magazine...) it is sad.
You do realize that they have to ut away their tampons and replace them with organic soy candles for the shots right? I mean, I remmeber when my best friend's family cottage was photographed for that Canadian home magasine...they hired a fake family for the shoot. And my bf is really cute, so she was allowed in some of the shots-but she had to wear the tag heuer watch from wardrobe.
